Translator - UNRWA

• Translates correspondence, reports, training, and other materials from English into Arabic and vice versa ensuring that translated text conveys original meaning and tone.
• Acts as Arabic/English interpreter when required during meetings, trainings, and assessments in UNRWA installations.
• Reads given material on humanitarian principles, general protection, gender-based violence and child protection and conducts own research to ensure sector-specific terminology.
• Establishes and maintains a glossary with protection specific terminology in English and Arabic.
• Proofreads texts in English and Arabic for grammar, spelling, and punctuation accuracy.
• Assists Protection teams in any administrative tasks, as directed.
• Prepares, verifies, maintains, and updates records in prescribed formats for use by the respective staff; creates, using standard computer applications, back up of records.
• Performs word processing and other computer duties as required.
• Acts as a secretary at meetings and takes minutes accordingly.

Diploma in English language, translation, or a related field.
Ability to operate a PC using word processing, and spread sheet, and data base applications.

It is required to have at least two years’ experience in translation work and interpretation in Arabic/English and vice versa.

*Good Working knowledge of English.

Knowledge of protection related topic such as gender-based violence and child protection.

Contract Type & Duration:

Limited Duration Contract, 1 year, renewable (depending on the need, performance and the funding availability)
