Work Location

  • Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, or West Bank

Expected duration

  • The duration of the consultancy is 6 to 11 months, extendable according to performance and availability of funds.
  • Remuneration for this consultancy will be 1,500 USD, depending on the fund availability, qualifications, and relevant experience.
  • The incumbent can be in any UNRWA field of operations (Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, or West Bank).

Duties and Responsibilities

  1.  Windows master image lifecycle management
  2. Create Virtual machine templates
  3. Create, provision, and manage AppStacks using VMware AppVolumes
  4. Create and manage VMware UEM policies using VMware DEM
  5. Creation and management of Desktop pools
  6. Provide with 2/3 level support
  7. Handle service restoration, service request
  8. Monitor performance and security and assess system functionality and integrity
  9. Assist with the analysis and troubleshooting of performance and potential security issues.
  10. Participate in escalated incident management and solving problems in a cross-team environment
  11. Executes test procedures to assess systems performance, identify and troubleshoot complex or unusual problems, and analyze results to implement system upgrades.
  12. Monitors server resource allocation/utilization and perform capacity planning.
  13. Assist in other projects and tasks as required
  14. Act as subject matter expert when needed.
  15. As needed, take part in service delivery processes (Incident management, request fulfillment, problem management, change management, etc.)
  16. On-call support of escalated issues in the VDI infrastructure environment and Azure Desktop Environment
  17. Keep documentation up-to-date
  18. Perform other duties as may be required.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic Qualifications:

  • A university degree or master’s degree from an accredited educational institution in information technology, information management, Information systems, computer science, computer engineering, Software engineering, Business Administration, Management, or other related disciplines;

Experience:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience for a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years for a master’s degree in using VMware Horizon, in which 2 years working experience with Windows client OS in terms of image creation, optimization, and customization, in which 1-year working experience with Cloud VDI operation managing Azure Virtual Desktop, FSlogix.
  • Strong knowledge of Hyper-Converged infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of networking PCoIP, Blast, UDP, and TCP/IP
  • Strong scripting PowerShell skills
  • Strong knowledge of Azure AD, AD, DNS, DHCP, KMS, and PKI
  • Strong knowledge of Windows client OS, GPO and AppLocker
  • Strong knowledge of SQL server
  • Strong knowledge of SSL, TLS certificates, and SSO
  •  Experience in large-scale and complex environments
  • Experience in using and supporting Virtual Desktop Infrastructure back-end technology such as VMware vSphere, vCenter, Application Virtualization, VMotion, Horizon View, VMWare AppVolumes, VMWare UEM, Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Experience supporting and administering system patches and updates in a 24x7 production environment.

DESIRABLE CERTIFICATES:

  • Certifications in VMware (VCP)
  • Certification in Configuring and Operating Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Microsoft MCSA Windows 10 certificate
