Global Communities is an international development non-profit organization. Our mission is to create long-lasting, positive and community-led change that improves the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people across the globe. 
 
Global Communities is seeking a Social Inclusion Specialist for a USAID-funded Household WASH program in Gaza. The three-year program will improve human health, environmental health and livelihoods in vulnerable communities by increasing access to facilities and services for safe domestic water and improved sanitation. Priorities include: 1) Providing durable solutions to vulnerable communities, such as the establishment, extension or rehabilitation of water distribution networks and sanitation systems at the household and neighborhood levels; and 2) Increasing emergency WASH preparedness interventions to mitigate and reduce rainwater and sewage flooding risks in vulnerable communities. 
 

Responsibilities:

  1. The Social Inclusion Specialist specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 
  2. Conducts WASH inclusiveness analysis to identify approaches, opportunities and recommendations for activity adaptations for women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWD).
  3. Develops WASH Inclusion strategy based on results of analysis.
  4. In close coordination with the Technical Expert/Chief Engineer and consortium partners, oversees the successful implementation of WASH inclusion strategy, ensuring that women, youth, and PWD benefit from enhanced hygiene conditions in communities and households.
  5. Follows up with relevant cluster or working groups on protection inclusion issues raised in WASH Audits conducted with beneficiary households.
  6. Trains consortium partners and staff on social inclusion issues.
  7. Attends Protection Cluster meetings.
  8. Participates on PMT and Technical Implementation Team.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred; 
  2. Seven years of relevant experience;
  3. Demonstrated experience in and commitment to the application of Social Inclusion principles in development programs;
  4. Demonstrated success in developing and implementing  WASH activities;
  5. Full professional proficiency in spoken and written in both English and Arabic;
