Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provides oversight and support of all electrical and mechanical Units’ teams and works in the
  2. Field; coordinates with other ICIP Divisions, and other Departments, ensuring quality, safety and efficiency; provides technical advice to the CFICIP on all cross-cutting issues, in relation to electrical and mechanical engineering works,
  3. Prepares and manages annual plans for electrical and mechanical works including budget and cost in accordance with the Agency’s Technical Instructions and standards; assumes primary responsibility for implementation and monitoring of electrical and mechanical works, ensuring safety and feasibility.
  4. Ensures that all electrical and mechanical works/projects are implemented in accordance with specifications, fitness for purpose and user needs and recognized engineering standards; studies, analysis and provides recommendation on electrical and mechanical works to improve energy saving and reduces environmental impact;
  5. Assesses and ensures that connections and services of the Agency premises with host countries electrical authorities, municipalities and electricity companies, follow relevant regulations and are coordinated as appropriate; follows and resolve technical problems that might be evolved and raises complicated ones to the CFICIP with the suitable recommendation.
  6. Prepares terms of reference for pre-feasibility and detailed feasibility studies for electrical and mechanical works/ projects; checks the accuracy of tender documents related to electrical and mechanical works.
  7. Confers with ICIP teams, at the Field and HQs, including, but not limited to, design, maintenance, environmental and construction to determine and ensure engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness and customer requirements for new and existing systems are met.
  8. Responsible for sustaining and elevating the capabilities of the electro-mechanical Unit’s staff; assesses their training needs, designs, and provide/or coordinates training sessions.
  9. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an accredited university/institution.

EXPERIENCE

  • At least five years relevant professional experience, of which at least three years should have been at a supervisory level is required.

Type of Contract:

  • Fixed Term Appointment
  • Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need.

Service Conditions:

  • Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary from $1592.60; and monthly dependency allowance up to $123.25.

  • Leave: 36 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with six-day working week. 30 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with five-day working week.
  • Pension: Provident Fund contribution (15.2% of basic salary paid by the Agency)
  • Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.
