Job Title: Outreach Activities & Promotion Coordinator

Project: (Beyond the Wall: Strengthening the resilience of non-communicable disease health services and improving the food security of patients in the Gaza Strip).

Palestinian Medical Relief Society is implementing a project to strengthen the resilience of the health system and the food sovereignty of patients with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and to promote sustainable qualitative, reliable, and efficient structure in health care services for NCDs in the Gaza Strip which is marked by protracted crisis and humanitarian aid. The project is implemented in partnership with Medico International and financed by the Federal Republic of Germany - BMZ.  

Therefore, PMRS is seeking to hire two Outreach Activities & Promotion Coordinators as follows:

  • One Outreach Activities & Promotion Coordinator working with the community: Full time, 6 days per week
  • One Outreach Activities & Promotion Coordinator working with NCD patients: part-time, 4 days per week.  

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in health-related fields (Master's in public health is an advantage).
  2. Working experience in health promotion.
  3. Experience in working with health NGOs, in a similar field.
  4. Experience in coordinating and monitoring activities and writing reports.
  5. Strong communication skills.
  6. Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  7. Computer skills.
The project activities are implemented in all PMRS centers including the NCD center in Gaza and three primary health care centers in Um Elnaser, Jabalia and Al-Fukhary areas. The community activities implemented through outreach tasks including, activities with other health providers and CBOs, patients home visits, and public activities.

The selected applicant's responsibilities are the following  

Health activities with the community

  1. Developing Yearly plans for NCD campaigns, health education, scheduled cooking classes, networking, and outreach activities the in the first month of each project year.
  2. Promote and systemize health awareness activities in all PMRS health centers through innovative approaches and ideas.
  3. Organize cooking courses for families and NCD patients.
  4. Using social media to engage more people in less costly health education and awareness activities.
  5. Organize one screening activity every year for early detection in one of the common and silent NCDs.
  6. Organizing one public health campaign every year that addresses one of the common risk behaviors in which the tools and activities should reach 100000 people through social media.

Health activities with patients

  1. Assessment of risk factors for NCD patients.
  2. Develop an individual plan for patients to reduce the risk and promote a healthy lifestyle.  
  3. Working with patients through individual sessions to address the common risk factors as obesity, smoking, and physical inactivity.
  4. Suggest and conduct activities that promote a healthy diet, smoke cessation, and physical activities.
  5. Monitor the risk factor behavior changes.
