Responsibilities

  1. Liaises with the Director of Communications, colleagues in the Communications Division, HQ departmentsf and public information offices in the Agency’s five fields of operation on the development and production of multimedia products for external communications in line with Agency-wide priorities and messaging; develops scripts and storylines for critical UNRWA audiovisual deliverables for the Agency’s external communications as per assigned portfolio, including advocacy, communication in emergencies, and donor visibility; ensures that products are in line with UNRWA messaging and donor requirements.
  2. Supports in creating and designing the communications campaigns and workplans in terms of required multimedia material; in coordination with concerned programme departments, public information offices in the fields and personnel in the Communications Division, develops branding guidelines for the multimedia products in line with UNRWA branding standards.
  3. Directs the filmmaking of stories, reels, clips, and animation; manages the Agency’s YouTube channel; monitors and evaluates key performance indicators (e.g. viewership, reach) to inform the development of future audiovisual products; oversees the merging of the two UNRWA YouTube channels and ensures all material is transferred to one key channel.
  4. Prepares all videos and multimedia material for sharing on the Agency’s social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter); provides products that are custom-made to maximize reach on the different platforms.
  5. Manages the production process of the multimedia deliverables, including pre-production, production and post-production; ensures that the production of audio-visual materials meets UNRWA standards; oversees the storing and filing of all audiovisual materials in Gaza HQ Communications Division , especially during and after emergencies; keeps abreast of the latest developments in the sector; ensures technical equipment under his/her supervision is in line with industry standards; ensures that all audiovisual productions adhere to strict deadlines and are in accordance with UNRWA’s vision and plans; develops effective monitoring and evaluation tools of activities.
  6. Manages the Agency’s contemporary audiovisual archive in Gaza; supervises the proper storage, filing and sharing of footage according to established UNRWA licensing regulations.

Education

  • A university degree from an accredited educational institution in filmmaking, journalism, multimedia production or a related discipline.

Work Experience

  1. At least six years of experience in filming, editing, developing short videos, promotional advertisements or packaging stories and writing scripts and shot lists is required.
  2. A university degree from an accredited educational institution in filmmaking, journalism, multimedia production or a related discipline is required.
  3. Excellent knowledge of Information Technology and relevant computer software, such as Multimedia Software, Adobe Photoshop, other Adobe products and other software on video editing and mixing is desirable.
  4. Experience in the production of short clips including for example, TV and commercial advertisements, film trailers, music video clips, infographics, motion pictures and other audiovisual promotional material is desirable.

Conditions of service:
  • Contract Type: Fixed Term Appointment for 3 years; including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance, and continuing need.
  • Grade and Salary, Grade 16 Monthly basic salary $ 1705.00 plus special occupation allowance (SOA) of 15.00% of the basic salary (SOA may change from time to time).
