Pharmacy Storekeeper - MSF 



 Médecins Sans Frontières “Doctors without Borders” is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation.

MSF is currently seeking to hire a pharmacy storekeeper to join our project in Gaza. The pharmacy storekeeper will be responsible for execute the pharmacy/medical warehouse storing activities in order to keep pharmacy stock above security level and following recommended conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.) under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, and in collaboration with the logistics team.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Supervising material orders and dispatching in order to ensure rational use.
  2. Receiving orders and deliveries, identifying potential disparities against cargo manifest or others and reporting them, and stores materials in accordance with the system in force, in order to ensure continuous availability. It includes:
  3. Ensuring good storage conditions of all medical items in the pharmacy in accordance with pharmaceutical standards in order to ensure continuous availability.
  4. Ensuring correct fill in entries on the stock cards and software.
  5. Carrying out or participating in regular inventories including EPREP stock.
  6. Following up stock levels with regards to alarms thresholds, stock out, expiry dates and drugs to expire in the following 6 months.
  7. Preparing orders of the different consumption units (departments, wards, others), ensuring proper packaging and dispatching and reporting any anomalies or changes in consumption patterns to the Pharmacy manager. Informing Pharmacy Manager as soon as stock reaches alert limit.
  8. Controlling warehouse facilities in order to ensure materials are kept in good keeping conditions, it includes:
e.g. Monitoring temperature in the warehouse and Ensuring that products requiring cold chain are suitably stored and transports received, stored, and prepared and transported appropriately according to MSF Supply and Cold Chain protocols.

  1. Ensuring cleanliness of premises (stock pharmacy) and in close collaboration with the logistics department, maintaining refrigerating equipment.
  2. Controlling warehouse limited access to authorized personnel and ensuring doors and other exits are secured. Immediately informing the line manager of any problems arising in the course of the work, particularly with regards to damage, loss, attempted break-ins or theft in the warehouse.
  3. Ensuring that items to be quarantined (on-going quality alerts) or to be placed in quarantine zone (batch recalls, expired or damaged items) are removed from the stock and safely locked.
  4. Following up stock levels with regards to alarms thresholds, stock out, expiry dates and drugs to expire in the following 6 months. Preparing reports and passing it to the supervisor.
  • Stock management:
  1. Receive all supplies in the pharmacy and update Isystock and stock cards accordingly.
  2. Provide initial feedback to Pharmacy Manager about the reception of items in the pharmacy.
  3. Follows up stock levels concerning alarms thresholds, rupture, expiry dates and drugs to expire in the following 3-6 months, and inform Project Pharmacy Manager on any alarming issues.
  4. Prepare the documents for loans and donation between OCP/OCB as per SOP on monthly basis.
  5. Enter data into Isystock and stockcard every end of the week.
  6. Participate in regular physical inventory.
  7. Remove the expired and damaged materials from the stock in monthly basis and update the sheet of expired items every month.
  8. Follow up of fridge contents and prepare the necessary sheets.
  • Stock management in end user units:
  1. Prepare and provide in a timely matter drugs and medical supplies to end user units in adherence with the protocol and procedures.
  2. Review order requests level and ensure orders are consistent with consumption and remaining stock levels and inform Project Pharmacy Manager on any alarming issues.
  3. Work in close collaboration with the supervisors at the hospital in relation to drug supply, order delivery, and monitoring where needed.
  4. Prepare the needed documents for returns, expired or other unusable products are followed as per procedure outlined in the protocol.

Responsible for keeping and organizing all documents from orders, return, loan/doantion, shipment, expiries ect.
 
Performs the temperature monitoring and humidity in the pharmacy warehouse and fridges on a daily basis on working days.

Update the medical boxes in identified location (Expat House, Office, and Vehicles) upon request from the pharmacy manager.
 
Update the EPREP stocks in the central pharmacy and AAH in different location upon request from the pharmacy manager.
 

  • Education:  Essential, Pharmacy degree with valid practicing permission.
  • Language: English is desirable.
  • Computer Skills: Essential computer literacy (Office pack and Internet)
  • Experience: Essential previous experience of at least 2 years in similar or relevant positions.

                     Desirable previous experience in MSF or other NGOs

Candidates should not have any other contract with governmental or private institution.

Please note this job needs carrying big and heavy boxes and organizing them in the warehouse.
