Community Coordination Officer - Chemonics International



Chemonics International seeks a Gaza-based Administrative Officer for a newly awarded, USAID-funded project promoting economic growth in the West Bank and Gaza through expanded economic development, trade, commerce, and applied research. The five-year project has three main objectives:

  • Objective 1: Facilitate Cooperative Exchange and Knowledge Sharing
  • Objective 2: Foster New Markets
  • Objective 3: Enhance the Capacity of Targeted Entities
We are looking for a dynamic individual with a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

The Community Coordination Officers will be based in the provinces where project staff will work including Jenin, Nablus, Hebron, and Gaza. Officers will be responsible for identifying local priorities and windows of opportunity for economic growth and partnership development. Applicants from those specific locations are strongly encouraged to apply. 

Specific roles and responsibilities may include but are not limited to: 

  1. Build and maintain relationships with local private sector, NGOs, community groups, and other relevant partners to support the project’s objectives
  2. Facilitate dialogues in the local community to identify sector problems at the community level and inform potential grants
  3. Responsible for securing local approvals for the project activities from the community leaders
  4. Coordinate community wide events with local organizations to build or strengthen community partnerships and engage local leaders and stakeholders
  5. Perform MEL data collection in local communities
  6. Provide inputs on selection criteria for potential local partners in the community level
  7. Contribute to the project deliverables including activity design, research, reporting, and work plans
  8. Coordinate with the grants team in the management of all local grants and procurement to ensure cohesive activity implementation
  9. Undertake other duties as assigned by supervisor. 

Basic qualifications include:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or greater in a business, engineering, or social sciences
  2. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience supporting donor-funded development or humanitarian programs
  3. Skilled communicator and adept at building and maintaining relationships
  4. Demonstrable experience in MEL data collection preferred
  5. Demonstrable experience conducting community research and consultation
  6. Knowledge of current political, economic, social, and cultural dynamics in the West Bank and Gaza
  7. Fluency in Arabic required; proficiency in English preferred.
