Job Announcement: Gaza Project Coordinator
DESCRIPTION:
The Gaza Project Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) Project Director in Gaza in the management of our projects and partnerships in Gaza including aid work, university scholarships, and grants to community organizations in Gaza. Responsibilities include providing photo, video, and written documentation of projects funded by MECA.
POSITION: FULL-TIME
LOCATION: GAZA, PALESTINE
TASKS:
Community Projects in Gaza
- Take photos and video of each project funded by MECA
- Collect reports from organizations when projects are complete
- Represent MECA in events related to our projects with the Gaza Project Director
- Translation and editing of proposals, reports, and updates for projects as necessary
- Find and recommend new projects to MECA’s program team
- Write blog posts and short articles about MECA’s work in Gaza as requested
Emergency Aid
- Assist the Gaza Project Director in the coordination of non-food and non-medical aid delivery to families throughout Gaza including winter aid and emergency aid
Scholarships
- Maintain contact with the students receiving scholarships from MECA
- Assist partner organizations in receiving applications from new and returning students
- Create list of students to receive scholarship each year
- Take photos, conduct interviews and provide other documentation to MECA office as requested
- Facilitate the signing of contracts with universities
- Other duties as necessary to assist the MECA team in Gaza
Requirements for position:
- Fluency in Arabic and English
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- 2-3 years of work experience in project management in nongovernmental organizations
- Ability to work well with a team
- Experience with accounting and/or financial reporting preferred
The Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) works to protect the rights and improve the lives of children in the Middle East through aid, empowerment and education. In the Middle East, MECA provides humanitarian aid, partners with community organizations to run projects for children, and supports income-generation projects. MECA’s current projects are in Palestine and Lebanon. In the US and internationally, MECA raises awareness about the lives of children in the region and encourages meaningful action.
