 Duties and Responsibilities


The Gender and Health consultant will work on the following:

  1. Regularly review and input to the Health cluster analysis documents (i.e., sitreps, reports, ICCG briefs, etc.) to ensure that gender content and Sex and Age Disaggregated Data (SAAD).
  2. Provide technical support on gender mainstreaming to the health cluster members to ensure the content of their response plans highlight and address gender concerns and that members have increased capacity to respond to emerging gender gaps in health priorities.
  3. Organize two online training sessions to the Health cluster members in the West Bank and Gaza on gender and COVID-19 health response.
  4. Develop two policy briefs on gender and health including on trends and barriers to women’s vaccination.
  5. Review the 2022 Humanitarian Response Plans and the health cluster planning documents (cluster analysis) from a gender lens and provide actionable recommendations to cluster members.
  6. Provide guidance and coordinate with relevant actors to increase the participation of women’s organizations in the health cluster coordination meetings and response. At least two online meetings/workshops with women’s organizations and cluster members on gender and health should be organized.
  7. Ensure the systematic collection of qualitative and quantitative data and analysis and share with cluster partners to inform their COVID-19 response.
  8. Provide analytical feedback on inclusion of SAAD and gender content in cluster analysis and advocacy messages and ensure that gender is included in the Health Cluster assessments and interagency assessments.
  9. Support the cluster gender focal point in the assessment of the Gender with Age Marker (GAM) codes during vetting panels and provide feedback on the GAM scoring in the online system.
  10. Provide support to UN Women’s team on gender in humanitarian action including technical support and coordination with humanitarian clusters and cluster partners.
  11. Produce final report with recommendations for UN Women, OCHA and Health cluster members.
  12. Any other tasks as requested by supervisors.

Required Skills and Experience


Education:

Master’s degree or equivalent in gender, health sciences, human rights, or other related fields is required.

Experience:


The Consultant should have the following experience:

  • At least 5 years of proven professional experience in the field of Gender Equality in Health programming, research and capacity building;
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in gender emergency planning and response within a conflict humanitarian settings;
  • At least 1 year working experience with the Health sector in the Palestinian context;
  • Experience working with the UN is an asset.

Language Requirements:

  • Professional fluency of English is required;
  • Knowledge of Arabic is desirable.
