Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental, private, apolitical, non-religious and non-profit organization created in 1979. Its goal is to combat hunger and dangerous situations that threaten men, women and children. Currently 500 expats and more than 5,000 employees are working for Action Against Hunger in more than forty-six countries working in projects concerning four areas of focus: nutrition, health, food security and water and sanitation.


GENERAL OBJECTIVES


The base Logistician will work in coordination with the technical team to implement the logistics and safety policies of the mission and provide the best possible support to the programs. The Base Logistician also works with the Logistics Coordinator to develop analytic tools meaning to evaluate and improve logistical performance.


The Base Log is overall responsible for all logistics activities in the base (procurement, fleet, storage, equipment’s, premises, ICT, Energy) and actively contributes to the security management (monitoring, reporting and operational implementation).


Key activities in your role will include

Objective 1: Provide leadership in the area of activity 

  1. Monitoring and analyzing logistical indicators in his/her zone.
  2. Assessment of the logistical capacities of his/her zone.
  3. Supporting Program Managers in the assessment of their needs and proposal writing (needs, PPP, etc.).
  4. Timely and high-quality reporting on his/her area of activity (monthly report).

Objective 2: Implement and ensure the performance of the supply chain 

  1. Ensuring conformity with Action Against Hunger procedures at each stage of the supply chain Support.
  2. Performance in respect of costs, quality and timeliness in the supply chain (purchasing, transport, stock) throughout his/her zone. 
  3. Advice, information and alerts on the processing of requests to the requesters.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of the market in his/her zone.

Objective 3: Implement and ensure the performance of fleet & facilities management

  1. Safety of the working and living environment.
  2. Provision and maintenance of logistical equipment.
  3. Security of logistical equipment, training and assistance to users.
  4. Supervision of the building, rehabilitation and maintenance required for the functioning of the base and the living environment.
  5. Provision of water and energy supplies to all buildings required for the functioning of the base and the living environment.

Objective 4: Implement and ensure the performance of information and communication technology and network management

  1. The setting up and efficient operation of the means of communication (voice and data) in accordance with Action Against Hunger standards.
  2. The security of both equipment and its users.
  3. Training and support to users.
  4. Rationalization of the costs of equipment usage.
  5. Assistance to the Logistics Coordinator in the strategic choice of equipment.

Objective 5: Contribute to Security Management

  1. Working on the definition and application of the Local Security Plan.
  2. Doing security briefing and training of Action Against Hunger teams.

Objective 7: Manage the Logistics team in the base

  1. Day-to-day management of his/her team (guidance, follow-up, motivation).
  2. Evaluating the performance and developing the skills of his/her team members.


Do you meet the profile required criteria?

  1. University degree in humanitarian, development management with professional experience in humanitarian logistics work.
  2. Procurement management, fleet management, Supply Chain management, Inventory control, intermediate IT and Security knowledge.
  3. minimum 3 years experience in logistics support to humanitarian projects for humanitarian aid organizations and/or international donors or private sector.
  4. Experience in team and capacity building.
  5. Experience in security management.
  6. Basic knowledge in humanitarian or emergency programming.
  7. Solid organizational skills: the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.
  8. Motivation and commitment to humanitarian work and values.
  9. Excellent interpersonal, analytical and communications skills.
  10. English compulsory (written and verbal), Arabic an asset.
  11. Strong Knowledge of Windows domain, Office 365, anti-malware softwares and IT network maintenance needed. KOBO, BIS and Power BI softwares a plus.
  12. Mobility between bases as required. international travels might be requested


Our remuneration package:

We offer immediate incorporation to a dynamic international network with the following remuneration package:

  • Formal work contract: 12 months with possibility of renewal.
  • Base: Gaza.
  • Compensation package: from 18.000€ to 22.920€ gross/year divided in 12 payments and based on experience.
  • In addition, there will be living expenses and per diem paid in local currency, corresponding to approx. 750 Euros per month at today’s exchange rate, for a fully worked month (*). 
  • Break: 5 working days every 3 months, break per diem: 215 EUR, break travel allowance: up to 400 EUR.
  • 25 working days of paid leave per year.
  • Guest House or similar accommodation covered by the organization.
  • Travel costs to and from the mission.
  • Expatriate health, repatriation, travel and life insurance covered by the organization.

(*) in local currency subject to unexpected changes in currency exchange
