Monitoring Assistant


Job Title: Monitoring Assistant on Special Service Agreement (6 months with possible extension)

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

These jobs are found primarily in WFP Field based Offices, and job holders typically report to the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in the Country Office. The reporting lines may change depending on the size of the office.

At this level work is carried out under minimum supervision. Job holders are expected to produce organised and accurate technical work and reports.

JOB PURPOSE

To perform monitoring activities within a specific coverage area and provide reports to support the effective delivery of assistance packages.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
  1. Monitor the implementation of the assistance programme at the local level, in close collaboration with the implementing partners;
  2. Conduct distribution monitoring for the in-kind modality at the level of distribution points, including beneficiary interviews during distributions based on the monthly monitoring requirements;
  3. Conduct post distribution monitoring visits at household beneficiaries’ level collecting data on outcome indicators and beneficiary satisfaction aspects based on the monthly monitoring requirements;
  4. Conduct shop monitoring visits based on the monthly monitoring requirements;
  5. Coordinate and join the donor visits in the field;
  6. Report periodically on relevant events regarding food management, distribution and other related issues;
  7. Identify any apparent issues in the programme and report them to the appropriate personnel;
  8. Conduct any other monitoring activity and data collection as required.

FUNCTIONAL CAPABILITIES

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Completion of secondary school education. Completion of bachelor’s degree in one of the social sciences (preferred degree in social work) is preferable and will be given priority consideration 
  • Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN languages the Arabic and the English .


DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
  • Has experience collecting monitoring data, both quantitative and qualitative and informing in the most efficient and effective ways.
  • Has experience in social work.
