In this role, the incumbent is responsible to the Senior Staff Nurse in the Health Centre he/she is assigned to.
  • In accordance with established Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent as a member of the Family Health Team (FHT) where assigned:

  1. Performs nursing activities required for child care, pre-conception care, antenatal care, post-natal care, diabetic and hypertensive cases including screening and health education activities;
  2. Carries out nursing tasks related to school health activities including vaccination, height and weight measurement, vision and hearing screening where applicable;
  3. Conducts home-visits for growth retarded, anemic, defaulting bedridden/disabled patients;
  4. Keeps adequate recording of received and used supplies needed for the nursing activities in her/his assigned working station;
  5. Maintains a high standard of infection control to ensure safety of staff and clients;
  6. Complies with all relevant safety, quality, health and environmental procedures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment;
  7. Provides services through the electronic medical records system (E-Health), including data entry and proper recording;
  8. Performs such other duties as may be required.

  • Conditions of service

  1. Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary from $1,319.40; and monthly dependency allowance up to $123.25.
  2. Contract Duration: Three years including 1 year probation period.
  3. Leave: 36 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with six-day working week. 30 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with five-day working week.
  4. Pension: Provident Fund contribution (15% of basic salary paid by the Agency).
  5. Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.

  • To qualify for this position, you will need:

  • Education Full secondary education; Completion of a two-year diploma in nursing from a recognized institution; Possession of a license to practice nursing services (where applicable).

  • Experience At least two years experience in a similar role; Experience in the use of computers and an understanding of their use in health applications.

  • Language(s) Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.


  • You will also need to demonstrate the following competencies:

  1. Good communication skills and maintains effective working relationships with staff and clients;
  2. Good organizational skills and ability to work under pressure and cope with heavy workload;
  3. Adequate computer skills;
  4. Self-motivated and shows willingness to learn from others;
  5. Acts in accordance with the professional ethics and values.

  • Equivalency

When the minimum requirements are not fully met, Field Director for Field Area staff and Director of Human Resources for Headquarters Area staff, in consultation with the concerned supervisor may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience.
NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination
