Org. Setting and Reporting
The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Vehicle Maintenance Officer through Head Mechanic
Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain vehicle and motor transport equipment which may include engine, motor accessor, electrical component repair; and in certain instances, the incumbent shall repair or renew damaged or unserviceable part as necessary to restore vehicles to safe and road-worthy conditions operated by the agency
- Assist the Head Mechanic in :
- i. Determining the repair required and the parts to be replaced;
- ii. Reporting abnormal ware or damage discovered in vehicles inspected or repaired;
- iii. Inspecting and testing vehicles and equipment;
- iv. Technical training of Motor Transport Staff.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Education
- Successful completion of full preparatory education.
- Successful completion of a diploma of at least two years duration in Automotive repair (Auto Electrical)
Job - Specific Qualification
Possession of a driving license valid in the country of duty station is desirable.
Work Experience
*At least three years satisfactory practical experience in auto electrical repairs covering petrol and/or diesel engines using modern garage tools and diagnostic equipment in addition to using workshop manuals and spare parts catalogues is required.
Languages
*Good Working knowledge of English.
Special Notice
Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment
Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need.
Conditions of service:
- Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary from $881.60; and monthly dependency allowance up to $123.25
- Leave: 36 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with six-day working week. 30 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with five-day working week.
- Pension: Provident Fund contribution (15.2% of basic salary paid by the Agency)
