International Medical Corps is working to relieve the suffering of those impacted by war, natural disaster and disease by delivering vital health care services that focus on training, helping devastated populations return to self-reliance. IMC has been working in Gaza since 2009 and is currently implementing a project to support health service provision in partnership with local NGOs.

International Medical corps is currently looking for: Communication Officer (1).
 
  • Capacity: Full Time Contract 
  • Desired Start Date: 01, January, 2022
  • End date: 30, September,2022 (with the potential for extension depending on available funding)
  • Location: Gaza City.
 
Reports to Grants Adm & Reporting Manager
 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Technical
  1. Develop and implement communication strategies, work-plans, campaigns/initiatives and messaging in support of IMC Gaza’s strategic goals as aligned with HQ communication guidelines
  2. Research for, fact-check, edit, and produce professional media and communications materials for various audiences and ensure their timely dissemination and amplification via communication channels at country level and in coordination with the HQ office
  3. Create high quality media and multimedia content for dissemination in country and via HQ-level platforms
  4. Maintain digital media archives including photos, videos, and success stories; Coordinate with IMC Gaza’s Grants Department on producing success stories and quality photos and videos of implementation for dissemination
  5. Maintain IMC Gaza’s social media accounts under the supervision of local leadership and HQ staff to establish and continue IMC Gaza’s prominent position for advocacy and fund-raising purposes
  6. Draft talking points and messages about IMC Gaza’s program implementation and share with relevant personnel at local and HQ levels; Respond to requests for information internally and externally relating to IMC Gaza and its work on deadline
  7. Prepare communication workshops and training for IMC staff as necessary
  8. Maintain an updated database of and communicate directly with other local NGO communication personnel to enhance local communication coordination
  9. Preparing communication budgets and reviewing potential communication/media consultant proposal budgets
  10. Ensure that all communications and programs materials are align with donor branding and marking guidelines; Answer branding and marking questions from employees, managers, partner organizations, and media outlets.
  • Compliance 
  1. Ensure compliance with IMC policies and procedures, donor regulations and local laws.
  2. Stick to IMC Standards and Regulations.
  • Working Relationships
  1. Proactively engage with supervisor, and key staff.
  2. Proactively engage on a regular basis with supervisors/Line Managers, to seek advice where needed.
  • Representation
  1. Represent IMC in a positive and professional manner to contribute to the creation of a positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of IMC’s mandate, ethics, values, and standpoint regarding other actors
  • Security
  1. Ensure the application of, and compliance with, IMC security protocols and policies of you.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. EXCELLENT COMMAND of English and Arabic (written, oral, comprehension) is VITAL
  2. Outstanding writing, re-writing and editing skills in English and Arabic
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including social media and multimedia skills
  4. Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential), and experience of working with multimedia tools (video technology and social media)
  5. Understand the best practices of main social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, etc.
  6. Excellent photography and video editing skills a plus; Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, and Illustrator is an asset
  7. Education: Degree in English, Communications, Political Sciences, Public Information, International Relations or a related field
  8. Job Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant (international) job experience with graduate degree (equivalent of a Master’s), 4 years with undergraduate degree (equivalent of a BA/BS) working in media, journalism, advocacy or communications, some of which may be in related external relations contexts Excellent written and spoken English.
