Needs to fill the position of a

 

MEDICAL Coordinator - GAZA

 

  • Position: Medical Coordinator
  • Job Location: Gaza Strip
  • Direct Supervisor: Field Manager
  • Category: Highly Qualified
  • Duration: 6 months with the possibility of extension.

 

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

  1. - To Create and update with the MoH the database of patients to be treated by the MdM Emergency Trauma Medical Team.
  2. - To identify with the MoH the different professional profiles needed for the MdM Emergency Trauma Medical Team.
  3. - To identify all technical and material needs for the performance of the MdM Emergency Trauma Medical Team. 
  4. - To ensure coordination and continuous communication between the MoH and the MdM Emergency Trauma Medical Team. 
  5. - Develop and update infection control protocols  
  6. - Manage and analyze project data together with the Field Manager. 
  7. - Participate in the training programs for local medical staff.

 

FUNCTIONS

Planning and programing role

  1. - Contribute to the definition of the operational strategy, and the trauma medical mission calendar in coordination with the Hospital.
  2. - Participate in developing/updating medical protocols.
  3. - Monitor and inform about the health needs (particularly related to surgical/emergency needs).

Monitoring and reporting role

  1. - Ensure data collection and patients database is updated after the trauma medical mission and the information is relevant and compatible with MoH standards and donor reporting requirements. 
  2. - Ensure the use of MdM visibility materials during project implementation as well as MdM formats and tools are implemented. 
  3. - Support Field Manager in preparing the project reports, based on adequately compiled analysis of project medical and surgical data and referral activities. 
  4. - Advise and support the Field Manager regarding the development and progress of the project according to the approved workplan. 

Clinical Support role

  1. - Ensure clinical supervision of the patient screening.
  2. - Collaborate in the outpatient’s clinic collecting relevant information. 
  3. - Ensure all clinical/surgical staff observe good practice in pre and post-operative patient care.
  4. - Ensure adequate standards are being observe during sterilization of surgical material.
  5. - Ensure adequate standards are maintained in collection and disposal of clinical waste. 

Communication and coordination role

  1. -Establish and maintain periodic relationship with the representatives of the Hospitals and the medical staff 
  2. -To act as a liaison between the medical staff at the Hospitals and MdM volunteers involved in the Emergency Trauma Medical Team.
  3. - Initiate and maintain contacts with other medical organizations to stimulate cooperation.
  4. - Attend meetings with national health authorities and relevant stakeholders when the Field Manager will require it. 

Human resources role

  1. - Support Field Manager in writing/revising the profile of the volunteers who will participate in the scheduled trauma medical mission. 
  2. - Supervise and support the international medical and surgical teams during the implementation of the scheduled trauma medical mission. 
  3. - Participate in the training programs for local medical staff: pre and post-surgical mission trainings and in-service training.

Other Specific Tasks

  1. - Technical support for purchase orders of material supply and consumable stocks.
  2. - Ensure the good use and proper storage of the material supply and consumable stocks. 
  3. - Ensure that an accurate monitoring and forecasting of product consumption is done. 
  4. - Ensure that surgical equipment and devices are regularly maintained.
  5. - Ensure safety and quality of health care structures and facilities during the project implementation (Including infection control and other preventive measures).


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Academic / Professional background: 

  1. - Healthcare professional (medical doctor, nurse...).
  2. - Previous experience in hospital care. 
  3. - Experience with trauma patients would be an asset.

 

Language requirements:

  • Fluent English, native Arabic.
  • Computer requirements: Office Package.

SALARY CONDITIONS

 

  • Salary scales of Médicos del Mundo in the oPt will be applicable to this position.
