Protection Assistant


PREMIERE-URGENCE INTERNATIONALE (PUI) is an international, non-political, non-religious and non-profit French organization intervening in 20 countries worldwide to provide a global response on the fundamental needs to victims of humanitarian crisis from the emergency to the restoration of their autonomy and dignity.

General Position Summary:


Under the direct supervision of the Protection Officer and Gaza Strip Field Coordinator, the Protection Assistant’s role is to assist PUI’s protection intervention in the Access Restricted Areas (ARA), mainly through overseeing the field work of the study on protection in the ARA.



Tasks and responsibilities:

-Being a part of the study team, which means involvement in the different phases of the study with special focus on field work
-Implementing the Focus Group Discussions planed in the study locations, and present comprehensive report for each FGD
-Implement the individual interviews with key protection actors for the study
-Supervise surveyors’ data collection in the field including coordination with local partners, reviewing the completed questionnaires and monitoring the surveyors performance against the study plan
-Facilitate the quantitative analysis of data


Required knowledge and skills:

-Bachelor degree preferably in the field of Law, Social or Political Science, International relations, Project Management or related field.
-Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience in related fields with a focus in the area of protection/promotion of Human rights and/or international humanitarian law.
-Previous work experience with international NGOs will be preferred
-Experience in the collection, analysis and interpretation of protection related information, including data base management tools;
-Ability to work as a collaborative team member,
-Ability to independently organize work and prioritize tasks,
-Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English,
-Professionalism, presentation, communication and networking skills.
-Ability to work under pressure,
-Ability to work with various partners, in a spirit of openness, and flexibility
-Self-motivated, diplomat, honest, highly responsible, and punctual,
-Computer skills, in particular MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Project and the Internet.
